The dated span of the public record

The earliest firmly dated entry is the first municipal term in 2001; the most recent is the opening of a new academic wing in July 2026. Two long-running responsibilities — the trusteeship of SVKM and the chairmanship of a co-operative spinning mill — are not dated in the public record, and are placed here by period rather than by year.

Over a decade

Chairman, Priyadarshini Sahakari Soot Girani Ltd., Shirpur

A spinning and dyeing unit operating within the co-operative sector, employing more than three thousand people, and described as the largest co-operative initiative in Maharashtra. He chaired it for more than a decade.

In a district with limited industrial employment, a co-operative of this scale carries a dual mandate: it must work as an industrial business — machinery, working capital, quality and markets — while remaining accountable to members who are also the people it employs.

2001 – 2006

First term as President, Shirpur–Warvade Nagar Palika

Election to the presidency of the municipal council for Shirpur town. The projects recorded across his three terms are the basic apparatus of a working municipality: water treatment, sewerage, electrification and roads, together with schools for tribal children, the Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital and public recreation facilities.

2003

SVKM’s Mukeshbhai R. Patel Military School opens at Shirpur

A residential school established to prepare boys and girls for entry into the defence services, and to build resilience more generally. It is one of the Shirpur institutions he is recorded as having envisioned establishing under SVKM, alongside the CBSE school, the aviation academy and the university campus that followed.

2007

NMIMS opens its Shirpur campus

SVKM’s NMIMS — founded in Mumbai in 1981 and granted deemed-to-be university status in 2003 — established its second campus at Shirpur, the first outside Mumbai. He was instrumental in developing the residential campus for engineering and pharmaceutical programmes: fifty acres carrying roughly ten lakh square feet of built-up area at Mukesh Patel Technology Park.

2009 – 2011

Second term as President of the municipal council

A return to the presidency of the Shirpur–Warvade Nagar Palika. Over the course of his tenures the council was recognised by the Government of Maharashtra as the best-managed Nagar Parishad in the state, and became the first recipient of an award of ₹40 lakh.

2014 – 2016

Third term as President of the municipal council

A third and final recorded term, closing fifteen years in which the municipal programme and the trusts’ institution-building in the same town ran in parallel.

EduLeaders’ Symposium, Mukesh Patel Technology Park

A symposium on educational leadership, innovation and the integration of artificial intelligence into contemporary education, inaugurated in his presence as Joint President and Trustee of SVKM, alongside Mrs. Rita Patel, In-Charge of the NMIMS Shirpur campus, and senior academic and government figures including the Director of Technical Education, Government of Maharashtra.

18 March 2026

Rural development awareness campaign, NMIMS Shirpur

A campaign on health, environment, education, social equity, agriculture and rural development, funded by the Mirae Asset Foundation and covering twenty villages of Shirpur taluka. He was among the guests honoured at the inauguration. The programme addressed water scarcity and conservation, sanitation, agricultural practice and access to maternal healthcare, and presented a village-level data dashboard for all twenty villages.

25 April 2026

Tapanbhai Mukeshbhai Patel Memorial Hospital & Research Centre opens

The Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Shri Devendra Fadnavis, inaugurated SVKM’s 1,200-bed multi-speciality hospital at Shirpur — approximately seven lakh square feet in its first phase — intended to bring advanced medical care within reach of underserved and tribal populations across Dhule, Nandurbar, Jalgaon and Nashik.

Reporting on the project credits it to the leadership of Shri Amrish Patel, President of SVKM, together with Bhupesh Patel, whose vision is described as having been key to bringing it to life.

July 2026

New academic wing inaugurated at Mukesh Patel Technology Park

The newly constructed D-Wing at the NMIMS Shirpur campus was inaugurated in his presence as Joint President of SVKM, together with Mrs. Rita Patel. The wing adds six classrooms, two tutorial rooms, twelve laboratories, two seminar halls, a dedicated workspace for student clubs and the placement department, with specialised facilities for computer vision, big data analytics, high-performance computing and simulation.

He was reported as emphasising the importance of providing world-class educational infrastructure to support quality teaching, research, innovation and industry-oriented learning.
