Bhupeshbhai Rasiklal Patel is Honorary Joint President and Trustee of Shri Vile Parle Kelavani Mandal — the public charitable trust established in 1934, when it took over the Rashtriya Shala founded in 1921 in the wake of the Swadeshi movement. SVKM today runs schools, junior colleges, degree colleges, professional institutes and a deemed-to-be university, teaching more than 35,000 students. He is also Managing Director of the Shirpur Education Society and a trustee of the R. C. Patel Educational Trust.
Within SVKM his remit is the physical fabric of the institution. He is described by the trust’s own institutions as being actively involved in the development of infrastructure and facilities at all of its campuses across India — the buildings, laboratories, hostels and grounds on which the teaching depends.
What distinguishes the record is where that work was directed. Rather than concentrating capacity in Mumbai, he envisioned and helped establish a cluster of SVKM institutions in and around Shirpur, a municipal town in Dhule district, north-west Maharashtra: the NMIMS residential campus at Mukesh Patel Technology Park for engineering and pharmacy, the NMIMS Academy of Aviation, SVKM’s Mukesh Patel Military School and SVKM’s Mukesh Patel CBSE School. In parallel he served three terms as President of the Shirpur–Warvade Nagar Palika and chaired, for more than a decade, a co-operative spinning and dyeing enterprise employing over three thousand people.

Municipal leadership
Three terms as President of the Shirpur–Warvade Nagar Palika (2001–2006, 2009–2011, 2014–2016), during which the council was recognised by the Government of Maharashtra as the state’s best-managed Nagar Parishad.
A university campus in a taluka
Instrumental in developing the NMIMS residential campus at Shirpur for engineering and pharmacy programmes — 50 acres carrying some ten lakh square feet of built-up area, alongside an aviation academy, a military school and a CBSE school.
A teaching hospital
SVKM’s Tapanbhai Mukeshbhai Patel Memorial Hospital & Research Centre — 1,200 beds across roughly seven lakh square feet in its first phase — was inaugurated at Shirpur by the Chief Minister of Maharashtra in April 2026.
How the work gets done
No published statement of management philosophy exists in the public record. What follows is read from the projects themselves — from what was built, where, and in what order.
Put the institution where the students are
The conventional path for an established Mumbai education trust is to deepen its presence in the city. The Shirpur cluster runs the other way. A deemed-to-be university campus, an aviation academy, a military school and a CBSE school were established in and around a municipal town in Dhule district — so that a technical or professional education did not require leaving the region to obtain it.
Treat infrastructure as an academic argument
The recorded remit inside SVKM is infrastructure and facilities across all campuses. At the July 2026 opening of a new academic wing at Mukesh Patel Technology Park — classrooms, tutorial rooms, twelve laboratories, two seminar halls and a placement department, with dedicated facilities for computer vision, big data analytics, high-performance computing and simulation — he was reported as emphasising the importance of world-class educational infrastructure in supporting quality teaching, research, innovation and industry-oriented learning.
Run the civic and the institutional as one programme
The municipal terms and the trust work occupy the same geography and read as a single programme. As President of the Nagar Palika the recorded projects were water treatment, sewerage, electrification, roads, schools for tribal children, a hospital and public recreation facilities. Through the trusts, the same town received colleges, schools and, in 2026, a 1,200-bed hospital and research centre. Neither effort makes complete sense without the other.

Between Vile Parle and Shirpur
The two poles of the work sit some four hundred kilometres apart. One is Vile Parle in suburban Mumbai, where a trust founded in 1934 grew into more than forty schools and colleges and, in 1981, a management institute that became a deemed-to-be university in 2003.
The other is Shirpur in Dhule district: a municipal town that now carries a residential university campus, an aviation academy at its airstrip, a military school, a CBSE school, a co-operative textile enterprise and, since 2026, a 1,200-bed teaching hospital.
